Assessing Partnerships Organization

Benchmark Stage 1:
Designing the Partnership
Stage 2:
Building on Collaboration
Stage 3:
Sustaining the Partnership
Participation of multiple sectors Participation is limited to a few individuals, primarily key campus, staff, students, a few faculty, and the CBO director and/or volunteer coordinator. One or a combination of partnering organizations coordinates activities among partners. Partners identify common community issues and problems. Partnership activities among multiple organizations are coordinated in order to mobilize the relative strengths of each partner to meet common goals and objectives.
Clear organization and dynamic leadership There is no partnership organization to speak of. The partnership encompasses ad hoc projects involving individual CBOs and various campus constituencies with no coordination. The partnership organization takes the form of a task force or joint CBO-campus committee with regular meetings and shared communication among multiple partners. The partnership itself has a permanent organization with a full-time director and staff.
Integration into the mission and support systems of the partnering institutions Common values, such as service, are present in each partner’s individual mission statement, but the partnership itself as a value is not recognized. Partnership members articulate common mission and values and identify the values of the partnership per se. The partnership as an institution has a clearly defined mission statement. Commitment to the partnership is also reflected in the mission and values statements of the partnering members.
